A Memorable Morning of Live Music in Support of Weston Park Cancer Charity

This month, our residents have enjoyed a variety of activities included in our entertainment programme but by far their favourite was our live music event that we arranged to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Charity. Double Flex is a local duo who play a variety of music hits so we invited them to join us for our fundraiser.

Our residents had a brilliant morning singing and dancing with their friends and our team. It also allowed them to speak about the songs, genres and dances that they have enjoyed most throughout their lives. At The Porterbrook Care Home, we were able to raise £50 for the Weston Park Cancer Charity which has been donated and we have recently received a thank you poster!

Live music can bring a wide range of benefits to the lives of those residing in a care home, specifically residents living with dementia. It works to keep their body and mind active, which can reduce the side effects of ageing and continue to improve cognitive functions and physical and mental health. Live music also benefits our residents by decreasing any agitation, increasing their confidence and enhancing their overall well-being which is extremely important to our team at The Porterbrook.
