A Special Lunch for the King’s Coronation
Along with many other people across the nation, our residents, relatives, and staff gathered together on the 6th of May 2023 for the coronation of King Charles the 3rd. We started the day's events with a screening of the live ceremony which took place at Westminster Abbey.
Our residents had previously voted for how they wanted to celebrate the King's Coronation, and it was a unanimous decision that we held a 3-day spectacle that included lots of entertainment, games, and lovely food. On the Sunday, residents preferred a roast lunch as opposed to a garden party, so that's exactly what we did.
Our Chef and kitchen team did a fantastic job of preparing a roast dinner for our residents, serving their favourite meats; lamb, and chicken. To really support the festivities and get spirits high, the staff dressed up in red, white, and blue and we decorated the home with flags and provided themed goodies, including a big cake and smaller cupcakes.
It's important to us that we provide our residents with opportunities to continue their hobbies, take part in activities, meet new people, and also celebrate the moments throughout the year that are special to them.
Many of our residents have fond memories of the Royal Family and previous coronations, and this gave them the opportunity to be involved in a special moment in history as well as reminisce and share their own stories of the Royal Family with each other.
We thoroughly enjoyed sharing this time together as a home and we look forward to more celebrations with our residents, relatives, staff, and members of the local community in the coming months.
