Audrey Is Our Number One!
When Audrey Denton needed residential care she came with her son Chris to visit The Porterbook and liked the place so much that Audrey became our first resident!
She is the first, and will not be the last. Audrey Denton, 89, became resident number one when she moved from her apartment in Ecclesall Road South into the luxurious Porterbook Care Home on Tapton Crescent Road, which cost several million pounds to build. There are two floors, and 44 en-suite rooms that are “furnished to the standard of a five-star hotel,” according to Audrey’s son, Chris, who is one of Sheffield’s best known motor dealers. We have a restaurant serving fine food, a cinema, piano bar, gym, beauty salon, library,
landscaped gardens, stunning upper terrace and a ‘celebrations room’ that can be used for family occasions.
A hairdresser is always on hand, and Audrey had her locks coiffured in readiness for Grapevine’s photograph. She also treated herself to an in-house manicure (such treatments are included in Porterbook’s all-inclusive charge). There is also a mini-bus, and a chauffeur driven Mercedes car available to take residents across town.
Chris Denton lives at Whirlow, and wanted his mum to have residential care in south-west Sheffield so that he could easily make visits. “I went to see various care homes,” he says, “and then my son, Brook, mentioned The Porterbrook, which is near his house. When mum and I visited, we thought the place looked fabulous. Everything is brand new. The rooms and their en-suite bathrooms are superb. Whoever created The Porterbrook made one heck of a big investment in getting things right. The staff are wonderful.”
Thanks for your lovely words Chris and Audrey, we're delighted that you have chosen to stay with us.
