Book Lovers Day

We celebrated Book Lovers Day at The Porterbrook on Tuesday 9th August with discussions about our favourite books and found out about the books some of our talented residents had written and published. Some of our residents have a real interest in reading and it's great to see.

Book Lovers Day is a national day that encourages reading and highlights the benefits of reading such as improving vocabulary, mental stimulation and stress reduction.

At The Porterbrook, we believe in the importance of keeping the mind active. No matter your age, reading is a great way of keeping your brain stimulated and your imagination strong. Getting lost in a good book helps individuals to get comfortable and transport them to a fictional world for a few hours.

On Book Lovers Day, individuals are encouraged to read a book, start a book club, give books as gifts, watch a book adaptation, host an event or donate a book to charity.

To find out more about what we get up to at The Porterbrook or for more information on our care services, do not hesitate to get in touch with a friendly member of the team today who will be delighted to assist you.
