Celebrating Wimbledon

It's that time of year again where we celebrate the Great British Summer and the return of wonderful Wimbledon.

In order to get our residents here at The Portebrook Care Home in Sheffield into the sporting spirit, we have had lots of Wimbledon-themed events and celebrations, and of course live showings of the matches washed down with a refreshing glass of Pimms.

In our arts therapy sessions, we did arts and crafts with a Wimbledon twist, and to support residents with physical activity, we played tennis and other racquet games.

To top off the celebrations, residents and staff gathered outside to enjoy an ice cream from a visiting Mr Whippy ice cream van in our lovely British weather!

Our Wimbledon celebrations have been a huge success with our residents and we have seen the wonderful benefits it has had on their wellbeing. As a result, we have invested in some new outdoor games including ping pong. Floor ping pong has given us great entertainment and some real laughs and residents have enjoyed playing this out on the balcony.

The happiness an wellbeing of our residents is extremely important to us and we take the time to celebrate various events throughout the year as well as support our residents with their hobbies and interests. We are looking forward to making more memories with our residents this Summer and enjoying some more activities and events.
