Festive Fun at The Porterbrook

Residents and staff at The Porterbrook have been getting in the Christmas spirit. We have been running a festive activities schedule for residents to enjoy throughout the month of December.

In early December, a couple of our residents went to the Christmas Fayre at Tapton Hall accompanied by some of our staff. They bought Christmas sweets and treats and some Christmas cards. It was so lovely to be able to get out into the community again to soak up the Christmas atmosphere.

On the 7th of December, the Trinity Bell Ringers came and played for us and one of our residents re-kindled her passion for bell ringing, a hobby she had thoroughly enjoyed before she moved in with us.

On the 8th of December, we had a visit from Double Flex who entertained residents with a musical performance, playing guitars and singing lots of well-known songs. With all the singing and dancing I think everyone needed to recover for a day or so!

The following day we hosted a Christmas movie morning with a showing of The Grinch showing in the cinema room, then it was downstairs for "grub in the pub".

On the 14th of December, we had a Relatives & Residents meeting & quiz. Refreshments and snacks were on offer, and residents got competitive trying to win the most points during the Christmas quiz. Lots of fun was had by all.

On the 17th of December, we welcomed the local church to our home which kindly held a Christmas service for us. They told residents about the story of the Christmas Tree and there were lots of hymn singing.

From all of us at The Porterbrook, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
