Our Chef “braves the shave” and raises over £700 for local cancer charity

Porterbrook Charity Raised

We’re delighted to say a massive congratulations to one of our Chefs, Tina Carrick, who shaved her head in a bid to raise hundreds of pounds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Tina, who has worked with us for three years, had her locks removed at our hair salon and raised a total of £738 for the cancer charity which helps and supports people of all ages that have developed cancer

Tina said: “I decided to have my head shaved because due to Covid-19, many charities have been hit hard and have not been able to complete their normal fundraising activities.

“I chose Weston Park Cancer Charity as sadly most families are effected by cancer at some time in their lives. I’ve had experience of this with both of my parents so I wanted to do something to help raise money for the hospital. I’m very pleased to have raised over £700.”

Our Manager, Sheilagh Sweeney, who has more than 30 years of experience of working in care homes and social care, said: “We are so proud of Tina and her willingness to ‘brave the shave’.

She has raised a fantastic donation for Weston Park Hospital, which will support them carry out the amazing work for those people suffering with cancer.”
