Our Royal Wedding

Resident with Flag in hand

Our residents got into the spirit of the Royal wedding last weekend.

We held a Royal afternoon tea with entertainment and refreshments the day before Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle last Saturday.

Our residents were treated to all the traditional elements of a Royal wedding party. This included patriotic decorations, plenty of Union Jacks, old-time music and a long table of sandwiches and delicacies.

Guest entertainer Richard 'The Saxophone' added a sense of occasion to the day with a beautiful and uplifting set of tunes.

Our Head Chef, Lisa Wolstenholme, and her team served a special afternoon tea with a range of Royal wedding-themed treats, including decorated cupcakes. The party provided a chance for our residents to chat about street parties they attended when they were children.

Our Home Manager, Sheilagh Sweeney said: "There was so much excitement in the home about the Royal wedding, so we thought it would be lovely for the residents to have a little pre-wedding event."

"Royal weddings have been a major attraction for a lot of our residents throughout their lives. Many of them remember well the street parties they had when The Queen and Prince Philip got married in 1947."

"Many of our residents have a real soft spot for Prince Harry – remembering when he was born, watching him grow into a young man and now have been so excited to celebrate him marrying the beautiful Meghan Markle.”
