Staff profile: Head Housekeeper, Laura Liversidge

Laura

Laura has worked as Housekeeper at The Porterbrook since it opened in 2016, and now leads a team of five dedicated and professional domestic/laundry staff.

Laura has gained a wealth of experience and qualifications whilst working at our home including an NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality and Leadership. Laura loves her job and particularly enjoys interacting with residents as well as members of their family and friends.

Laura explained further: “I have worked in the care industry since I was 17 years old, doing a mixture of job roles. I firmly believe that when you work in a care setting, regardless of your role, you have a duty of care and responsibility in helping residents enjoy their time and get the most from every day.

“I am privileged to meet lots of different people, from all walks of life. With the support of my team, we provide our residents with a clean, safe and home-from-home environment. It’s important to treat others as you would want one of your loved ones to be treated. A little kindness and stopping for a chat is a great way of keeping everyone relaxed and happy.

“My biggest professional achievement is completing my NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality and Leadership. This has helped and guided me on how to lead and support my team.

“The Porterbrook Care Home offers a lot of facilities for our residents such as a cinema room, quiet lounges, chauffer driven car, organised days out as well as entertainment within the home. Nothing is too much for us here. Our residents and staff are all amazing.

“For any new potential new residents, I would ask if they would like a tour (or currently a virtual tour) of the home. It’s really important for people to ask all the questions they want and feel as reassured about the move as possible. It’s our top priority to keep our residents safe, happy and healthy.“
