Arts & Crafts

Taking part in group activities while staying at The Porterbrook Care Home is a great way to meet new people while also learning new skills, especially when participating in one of our Arts & Crafts sessions. Our Activities Coordinator always ensures there is something fresh and exciting for our residents to put their hand to, from painting and drawing through to flower arranging.

Being creative has a plethora of fantastic mental and physical benefits for our residents at Beaumont Manor Care Home. Combined with the social aspect attending a group sessions offers, residents are almost certain to have fun at each of our sessions.

Psychological & Physiological Healing

Here at The Porterbrook Care Home we believe that while brains inevitably age, creative talents don’t essentially deteriorate. We truly believe that the therapy of art, in its various forms, improves the quality of life for the elderly, which is why we have dedicated Activity Coordinators who strive to produce an engaging and varied Activities Programme where all residents can flourish. Sharing art activities can also be beneficial in building relationships between residents, staff, friends, family and the wider community. Arts & Crafts Sessions go way beyond simply coloring a picture, it presents a whole host of benefits and our staff  witness the Psychological and Physiological benefits this type of group activity can have.

Arts & Crafts FAQs

There is a great deal of variation for residents in our Arts & Crafts classes. From making paper tissue poppies to display on Remembrance Sunday, to celebrating all things Disney with drawing and colouring through to pumpkin painting during Halloween, our Activities Coordinator ensures each session is different, seasonal and will be enjoyed by all. Every one of our residents has access to a variety of creative activities and we supply all the necessary equipment.

You are free to proudly display your creation in your room or give it as a present to a loved one. Residents are also given the opportunity to display their work around the home for all residents, visitors and staff to admire.

The care home fee that you pay includes all of the activities residents participate in during their time at The Porterbrook Care Home. Art supplies are included within the care home fee.

Our Arts & Crafts workshops are held on a regular basis and last anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the activity. Every week, new schedules and activities are created, ensuring residents are motivated to join in and enjoy not only being creative but also making the most of the social aspect each session offers.
